Made with Shoot'Em Up Kit 2D

Dumbot had a very humble beginning — not as a full game, but as a technical demo. It was originally developed as a template for our old Pyro engine for Monkey by Blitz Research, mainly to showcase a framework. However, Monkey remained a fairly obscure programming environment, and as I transitioned to Unity, it became clear that Dumbot had potential beyond its original purpose — especially after it was picked up by a publisher.

The transition started with porting over my framework, Ignition, and converting the existing level data, which I had originally built using my own tile engine and editor. From there, I essentially rebuilt everything from scratch. This effort led not only to a new version of Dumbot but also to Ignition and Pyro for Unity — the foundation that eventually became the Shoot'Em Up Kit 2D.

What began as a simple experiment turned into a full game, with Dumbot stepping into the spotlight — determined to change his own fate.
